Because the step CLI runs on multiple operating systems, some with or without package managers, our installation page describes each platform's installing and removing step from client machines.
Note that removing step doesn't remove the hidden .step directory in the local user's home directory. The .step directory main contains files and configurations that a user may want to retain.
